Abstract

The study was conducted on 23 patients attending the outpatient clinic of plastic surgery department at Al menoufia University Hospital between March 2017 and September 2018. Traditional abdominoplasty have done for all patients and sensibilty was evaluated.
The aim of this study is to evaluate superficial cutaneous sensation (temperature, touch and pain) in each region of anterior abdominal wall after abdominoplasty. The sensation was evaluated two weeks, three months and six months postoperatively.
Evaluation measures included:
1.Evaluation of thermal sensation by test tube containg hot water.
2.Evaluation of touch sensation by cotton wad.
3.Evaluation of pain sensation by a needle.
We concluded that there is affection of sensation in all regions of the anterior abdominal wall after abdominoplasty during undermining of the abdominal flap during the operation.
The hypogastric and the umbilical regions are the most affected regions. Three are significant changes of temperature, touch and pain. The rest of regions are less affected.
During the follow up of patients after two weeks, three months and six months, there was an improvement of the sensation in all regions.
