Abstract
A field experiment was carried out at Samalot region (El-Byaho village) - Minia Governorate and Laboratory of ornamental plants, Faculty of Agriculture, Minia University during two successive seasons (2015/2016 and 2016/2017) to study the effect of farmyard manure (FYM) at 0, 10, 15 and 20 m3/fed. as main plots (A) and mineral NPK fertilization, E.M. biofertilizer and/or some vitamins (vitamin E or vitamin B1) treatments as sub-plot (B) and their interaction (A×B) on vegetative growth, yield and yield components, essential oil productivity and chemical composition of cumin (Cuminum cyminum, L.) plants.
All treatments of farmyard manure (FYM) significantly increased plant growth parameters, yield and yield components, oil production, as well as, chemical composition.
In most cases, E.M. biofertilizer + vit. B1 treatment followed by E.M. biofertilizer + vit. E increased vegetative growth characters, yield and oil production, as well as, NPK elements % and photosynthetic pigments.
In most cases, fertilizing cumin plants with FYM (20 m3/fed.) in combination with E.M. biofertilizer + vit. B1 followed by E.M. biofertilizer + vit. E and FYM (15 m3/fed.) plus E.M. biofertilizer + vit. B1 gave the best results.
Under the same condition of this investigation, the best growth, yield of fruits and essential oil production of cumin by adding to 20 m3/fed. of FYM in combination of E.M. + any of vitamins or 15 m3/fed. of FYM plus E.M. + vit. B1.
