After obtaining parents informed and written consent, 90 pediatric patients aged 6 to 12 years were enrolled in this randomized controlled study and scheduled for adenotonsillectomy operation. They will be randomly divided by a computer-generated randomization schedule in to three groups, group I (IV group) received nebulized fentanyl (4 μg/ kg) , group II received nebulized ketamine (2mg/kg) and group III received 4 ml nebulized saline .
Baseline blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation were recorded before administration of inhalational premedication as baseline values,before induction of anaesthesia,every 5 minutes intra-operative, 15 minutes in post anaesthesia care unit until discharge, Intraoperative fentanyl consumption was recorded. Sedation by Ramsay sedation scale (RSS) was recorded before induction of anaesthesia. Pain was recorded by VAS at 15 minutes intervals in post anaesthesia care period until discharg from recovery unit. Postoperative paracetamol consumption and adverse effects such as nausea andvomiting were also recorded .
