Abstract

This study has shown that despite of high percent of participants had heard about BSE (86%) they lacked satisfactory knowledge about breast cancer risk factors and many of them did not have right knowledge about BSE. And even though most of participants have sufficient attitude toward BSE a few of them have practiced it and most of them practiced it incorrectly. This can be concluded from the following:
• Out of 314 study participants, 270 participants (86%) heard about breast self-examination
• Regarding the overall knowledge about breast cancer risk factors there were about 40% have very good and good knowledge about breast cancer risk factors, while more than 60% had either poor or very poor knowledge.
• Regarding the overall knowledge score on BSE there were more than 60% of participants had very good and good knowledge on BSE
• Regarding the attitude, Up to 97% of our participants have satisfied attitude.
• There were about 38% practicing BSE from those who had heard about BSE and only 8.7% of participants have very good practice while the majority of participants about 42% have very poor practice. only 12.6% of them reported that they performed BSE regularly and the majority of them (87.4%) had performed BSE by irregular manner
