Abstract El-Dob area is situated in the northern part of the Eastern Desert of Egypt. It occupies about 243.68 km2 of the crystalline basement rocks, between latitudes 26° 40ˋ and 26° 48ˋ and longitudes 33°20ˋ and 33° 30ˋ. The area is characterized by low to relatively high topography varying between 500 and 989 m (El-Dob peak is at 860 m) above sea level. Remote sensing is a useful tool to investigate the different rock units, geomorphological data, alteration zone, mafic and felsic dykes with high detection using different techniques (band combination, band ratio, principle component ananlysis (PCA) and minimum noise fraction (MNF)) which made for ETM+ and ASTER data and Each technique is effective for extracting one or more of the geological features in the study area during mapping. |
