Pneumonic children usually suffer from many complications and health problems as the course of treatment or result of disease process. The aim of this study was to assess the mothers` health care regarding their pneumonic children under five years old. Research design: A descriptive research design was utilized. Setting: This study was conducted at Pediatric Out-Patient Clinics in Benha Specialized Pediatric Hospital & Benha University Hospital. Sample: Simple random sample of 100 mothers had pneumonic children was attended to the previously mentioned settings in a period of six months. Tools: Two tools were used in this study to collect the research data I) An interviewing questionnaire to assess socio-demographic characteristics of the studied mothers and their children, children` medical history, mothers` knowledge regarding pneumonia and mothers` practices regarding care of their children with pneumonia. II) Assess factors affecting pneumonia. Results: 69% of studied children were male, 66% of them aged between 24-36 months with mean age 22.2 ± 12.6, 27% of mothers aged <20 years old with mean age 27.4± 5.2, 56% of mothers had secondary school education, 59% of the studied mothers had poor knowledge about prevention of pneumonia, 26% had unsatisfactory practice regarding care of their pneumonic children, while 74% of mothers had satisfactory practices regarding care of their pneumonic children. Conclusion: This study concluded that less than two fifths of the studied mothers had poor knowledge regarding pneumonia, less than three quarters of the studied mothers` total practices were satisfactory, and there was highly statistically significant correlation between mother`s knowledge and practices regarding their children care P <0.001. Recommendation: Health educational program for mothers should be developed and implemented to improve knowledge & enhancing practices about pneumonia and prevent complications.
