Abstract This study was carried out at the nucleus breeding rabbit farm, Poultry Research Center, Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University. These data were recorded over six consecutive years during the period from 2008 to 2013. The data of productive and reproductive performance of a closed line of rabbits (Alexandria line) were investigated. The main objectives of this study were to; 1) evaluate the performance of a synthetic paternal line of rabbits, 2) investigate some of the environmental factors associated with productivity under intensive system of production, 3) estimate the variance components and heritability values for growth and litter traits studied, 4) quantify the genetic and phenotypic correlations among the studied traits, and 5) evaluate the genetic merit (predict the transmitting abilities and genetic trend) of the Alexandria line rabbits. |
