Abstract In the present work, we synthesized series of new sensitizers characterized for high efficiency dye-sensitized solar cells. In chapter 1, present a general introduction on the DSSCs and kinds of sensitizers were used in DSSCs. As for chapter 2, including two parts. PART I, we reported two novel ruthenium complexes, MR-1 and MR-2 were synthesized for use in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). For part II, we reported the synthesis and characterization of different ruthenium (II) complexes entitled MMR-1, MMR-2. In chapter 3, molecular design and synthesis of two metal-free organic sensitizers (MR-5 & MR-6) with D-π-A-π-A architecture based on trimethoxy benzene donor core carrying two different withdrawing/anchoring groups such as cyanoacetic acid and rhodanine-3-acetic acid via thiophene as π-spacer. In chapter 4, we studied the photovoltaic performance of two novel metal-free organic dyes (MR-3 and MR-4) carrying the same trimethoxy benzene and terthiophene units but with different anchoring moieties, as effective co-sensitizers for Ru(II) complex, NCSU-10 sensitized DSSCs. In chapter 5, we presented different collaborated Publications, we report the molecular design, synthesis and characterization of novel chromophores for their application in DSSCs as sensitizers as well as co-sensitizers. And finally, in chapter 6, we introduced the synthesis method beside the devices and figures of all tests done. |
