Abstract
Tutton salts are crystalline series sharing the general formula: A2B (XO4)2. 6H2O, where A is a big univalent cation such as K+, NH4+, Rb+, Cs+, etc., B is a smaller divalent cation: Ni2+, Co2+, Cu2+,Mg2+,Zn2+, Fe2+, etc., and X stands for S, Se or Cr. There are many UV filters determined by the materials as UV-block and UV-pass filters which tutton, potassium magnesium chloride sulfate and potassium zinc chloride sulfate crystals can be applied in both which exhibit a transparency in the UV region depending on the crystal type without any reduction in filter`s efficiency.
