Abstract The problem of transformation of rainfall to runoff has been a subject of scientific investigations throughout the evaluation of the field of hydrology. A number of investigators have tried to relate runoff with various governing characteristics. For rainfall-runoff simulation and design flood estimation, conceptual and physical models are widely used. This study mainly concentrated on using programming Arcobjects with visual basic for application (VBA) and advanced customization techniques constructed in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing techniques to develop a hydrologic model to predict surface runoff hydrographs and design storm. The VBA applications were developed to present all data in a GIS toolbar with the model result for different simulation scenarios. The hydrologic model is calibrated using the collected data on the study area thus making the model applicable. Also, it can help in determining the most reasonable sites for the measuring network needed to condense and renovate the hydrologic data. The result showed that the developed system could facilitate assessing and predicting floods, suggesting sites of storage and protection different structures. Finally the results and propose recommendations are described for future researchers. |
