Abstract
This study was conducted to assess the bacterial contamination in poultry slaughterhouses in Ismailia Governorate , samples were taken from 3 different poultry slaughterhouses.150 sample swabs were taken
from different stations(food contact surface,food
handlers,utensils,machines)the following microbes were isolated: E.coli , Staph.aureus, Pseudomonas,
Proteus with percentage of 10%, 2.6%, 1.3%, 1.3% respictivley
Serological classification of 10 E.coli isolates were
randomly selected was as follows: O63:H7(2),
O125:H5, O63:H5, O119:H6, O125:H2, O112ac:H2,
O136:H2, O127:H2, O1:H2 .
PCR used for detection of virulence genes in 9
isolates of E.coli(STX1, STX2, eaeA, hly),STX1
gene was positive for 5 E.coli samples, STX2 gene was positive for 2 E.coli samples, eaeA gene was positive for 4 E.coli isolates and all 9 samples were
negative for hly gene .
