Abstract • Objectives The objectives of the current thesis can be summarized as follows: • Construct and refine homology models for the LTB4 receptors. • Understand the probable receptor structure. • Understand the innate mechanism of the developed ligands and design more potent small molecules based on modeling studies. • Design antagonist molecules which effectively fit to each LTB4 receptor. • Analyze interaction patterns of existing ligands using quantum mechanics, molecular mechanics and quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics computational methods, as well as molecular dynamics techniques • Synthesize potent lead compounds towards LTB4 receptors. • The outcomes can be summarized as follows: • Construction of homology models for the BLT1 and BLT2 receptors. • Better understanding of the ligand-BLT1 and –BLT2 interactions. • Discovery of potent lead compounds towards BLT1 and BLT2 receptors. |
