Abstract Gabal Gattar is located in the Eastern Desert of Egypt. The younger granites are the major rock type in the area. They are enriched in uranium and thorium. Thirty samples were collected from Gattar-II uranium occurrence. The samples include five surface samples of alkali feldspar granite, 21 surface samples from secondary U mineralized zones, two open-pit samples, and two samples from the tunnel. PH, TOM, LOI were measured and XRD, XRF, SEM, and gamma-ray measurements were perforemed. The results showed that samples have slightly alkaline PH with TOM below 1% and LOI below 0.5%. The XRD pattern identified quartz and albite in all examined samples, while the presence of uranophane was obvious in some surface granite samples. |
