Abstract Road safety has been increasingly recognized worldwide as one of the key issues during the last three decades due to the rising numbers of traffic accident losses. Egypt is ranked among the countries with the highest rates of road accidents in the world. According to the American Chamber of Commerce, more than 96% of Egypt’s goods are transported by trucks, and due to their large volume and excessive weight, the severity level and number of truck accident fatalities are much higher than those of other vehicles. While road conditions, truck maintenance, and truck size could all be contributing causes of accidents, the driver’s behavior is found to be the major cause of truck accidents. A driver’s behavior includes his perception, attitude, and reaction while driving, and can be the reason why some drivers may be subjected to accidents than others. The aim of this study is to identify the risk factors of the truck drivers’ behavior related to traffic accidents. |
