Abstract

Training is a very important part of any work cycle and can strongly effect
on the success of service-based businesses like hospitality. Information
Technology (IT) is growing at a fast speed at all levels of the hospitality
industry.
The aim of this study is to explore the effect of front office practical training
on graduates‘ skills development. The study objectives are to determine the
effect of property management system (PMS) instructor competency, PMS
training environment and PMS training content on graduates‘ skills
development.
The current study adopted the quantitative method using the questionnaire as
a tool for data collection to test the study hypotheses and achieve its aim and
objectives. The questionnaire form was distributed to 389 students from the
targeted five governmental faculties, and 168 forms were included in this
study.
The results revealed that the independent variable (PMS training content)
has a significant positive effect on the dependent variable (developing
graduates‘ skills), while the other two independent variable (PMS instructor
competency and PMS training environment) were found insignificantly
effect on graduates‘ skills development.
The researcher recommends developing the training on (IT) skills to enhance
the graduates‘ specifications from the faculty of tourism and hotels in Egypt
to be easily able to join the labor market.
