Abstract Training is a very important part of any work cycle and can strongly effect on the success of service-based businesses like hospitality. Information Technology (IT) is growing at a fast speed at all levels of the hospitality industry. The aim of this study is to explore the effect of front office practical training on graduates‘ skills development. The study objectives are to determine the effect of property management system (PMS) instructor competency, PMS training environment and PMS training content on graduates‘ skills development. The current study adopted the quantitative method using the questionnaire as a tool for data collection to test the study hypotheses and achieve its aim and objectives. The questionnaire form was distributed to 389 students from the targeted five governmental faculties, and 168 forms were included in this study. The results revealed that the independent variable (PMS training content) has a significant positive effect on the dependent variable (developing graduates‘ skills), while the other two independent variable (PMS instructor competency and PMS training environment) were found insignificantly effect on graduates‘ skills development. The researcher recommends developing the training on (IT) skills to enhance the graduates‘ specifications from the faculty of tourism and hotels in Egypt to be easily able to join the labor market. |
