Abstract This thesis deals with the synthesis and characterization of some polymers based on thieno[2,3-b]thiophene in the polymer backbone, except the final part which deals with polybenzoxazine . Part 1 includes 4 sections: Section 1: Involves the synthesis and determination of characteristics of some new polyamides based on 3,4-diaminothieno[2,3-b]thiophene-2,5-dicarbonitrile I. the corrosion inhibitive properties of selected polyamides IIId and IIIe were discussed via potentiodynamic polarization measurements (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Section 2: Includes attempting of Copolymerization of 3,4-diaminothieno[2,3-b]thiophene-2,5-dicarbonitrile monomer I and 4,4՜-diaminodiphenylmethane with terephthaloyl chloride. Section 3: Includes the synthesis and determination of characteristics of some new polyamides resulted from the reaction of 3,4-diaminothieno[2,3-b]thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate VI with diacid chlorides in refluxing TEA/dioxane . Section 4: Includes synthesis and characterization of some new polyhydrazides based on 3,4-diaminothieno[2,3-b]thiophene-2,5-dicarbohydrazide IX. Part 2 This part deals with synthesis of azine-functionalized benzoxazine monomer (Azine-BZ) XI and studying its ring opening polymerization. |
