Abstract The aim of study is to demonstrate how the selected extract dialogues from Fallujah by Jonathan Homes may be examined through linguistic perspectives. This thesis is especially concerned with the types of illocutionary acts and the social semiotics used in the play titled. A set of objectives demonstrates the aim of this thesis. First, the researcher examines the illocutionary acts used according to the character background. Second, she investigates how the illocutionary acts shape the play. Third, the researcher scrutinizes the social semiotics as employed in dialogues. |
