It is usually performed on separate sessions for the fear of complications to happen on both sides. The most important complication is the iatrogenic hearing loss caused by tympanoplasty. The collected data in the literature revealed that this complication isn’t evident in case of myringoplasty ”tympanoplasty type I” for simple perforation. This meta-analytic study used the data obtained from 14 papers regarding the graft take and hearing improvement to assess the feasibility of single sitting bilateral tympanoplasty regarding these outcomes as a safe procedure with many advantages such as the lower cost, and saved time. The common thought of the bilateral ear packing is evaluated to be of no much issue to concern about especially with new different procedures that could eliminate the packing. There are different approaches used to evaluate the outcomes which revealed different percentages due to different procedures starting from the operation passing through the data collection till the type of study used to evaluate the single sitting bilateral tympanoplasty which they revealed that such a procedure is safe and have many advantages that out way the fewer disadvantages. |
