Abstract

PICO approach:
 P (Patient): Patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis.
 I (Intervention): IANB injection of 3.6 ml (equivalent to two cartridges) of
2%Mepivacaine Hydrochloride with 1:100,000 epinephrine.
 C (Comparator): IANB injection of 3.4 ml (equivalent to two cartridges) of
4% Articaine Hydrochloride with 1:100,000 epinephrine.
 (Outcome): The Primary outcome was the anesthetic efficacy during access
cavity preparation and root canal instrumentation. The Secondary Outcome
denotes the number of patients who needs supplemental anesthesia.
