Abstract

Introduction and review of the literature
Oral cavity is lined by mucous membrane and always moistened by saliva which produced from major and minor salivary glands (Jonjic, 2001).
Hypercholesterolemia is a common abnormality. It may be familial or secondary to several conditions like high-lipid diet, hypothyroidism and liver dysfunction. (Mahy et al., 2004).
Statins are a group of medications, which block the internal production of cholesterol in the liver by blocking the enzyme HMG CoA reductase. They also increase the rate of LDL (bad cholesterol) receptor turnover in the liver (Emile et al., 2015).
Green Tea also considered a good treatment of hypercholesterolemia, green tea has received a great deal of attention especially due to its content of Polyphenols (Nagao et al., 2015).
