Abstract SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS This study was conducted on thirty female patients operated previously for breast cancer with breast conservative surgery presented to clinical oncology department Tanta University Hospital and referred to the Diagnostic Radiology Department for evaluation. they presented with suspicious findings at operative bed on sonomammography. Their age ranged between 32 to 79 years with a mean age of 49.13 years. The aim of the work was to evaluate the role of dynamic and functional breast MRI after breast conservative surgery in differentiating between locoregional tumor recurrence and benign post-operative changes. All patients were subjected to full history taking, thorough clinical examination, sonomamographic, MRI imaging including conventional sequences, DWI and dynamic post-contrast assessment. All MRI studies were obtained using a dedicated closed MRI machine (General Electric SIGNA) HS (high speed) with magnets of intensity field 1.5 T and gradients 20 MT/m, equipped with bilateral dedicated breast coils. In our study MRI was effective tool in evaluation of post conservative breast for differentiating tumor recurrence from benign post-operative changes, our results were 8 lesions proved as recurrence and 22 lesions proved as post-operative changes. Dynamic MRI was effective in lesions diagnosis as regarding morphologic and kinetic assessment, DWI allowed qualitative and quantitative assesement of the lesions. |
