Abstract Summary Hepatitis C viral infection is one of the most burdensome diseases affecting 2 – 3% of the world population. 130–150 million people globally have chronic hepatitis C infection. During infection HCV triggers a range of immune response that is thought to cause its extra hepatic complications beside the theory of direct infection of different organs including the Central Nervous System. The pathological mechanism of HCV that results in psychiatric symptoms is not fully discovered though efforts have been invested. Changes in the serotonin, glutamate and dopamine pathway and alteration of choline/creatine, myoinositol/creatine ratio are the suggested pathology. The aim of this work was: Evaluation of some psychiatric aspects and quality of life in HCV patients with either cirrhotic or non cirrhotic liver. The present study is a case control study that was carried out from February 2017 to April 2018 at neuropsychiatry department and internal medicine department in Tanta University Hospital. |
