Abstract

This study was carried out on 40 patients undergo cholecystectomy in Faculty of medicine, Menoufia University, the data was collected, analyzed and tabulated as follows.
Our results summarized that:
- This study included 29 (72.5%) males and 11 (27.5%) females. Age ranged between 38-57 years with the mean of 48.0±6.8 years. In this study, 12 (30.0%) were smoking and 20 (50.0%) non smoking and 8 (20.0%) ex-smoker.
- Regarding clinical data, DM were found in 3 (7.5%), HTN in 3 (7.5%) and healthy in 34 (85.0%) of the studied samples.
- Hospital stay ranged between 1.0-2.0 days with the mean of 1.70±0.46.
- In our study, cholecystectomy leads to non significant changes in TC, TG, LDL-c , HDL-c all over the different period of follow up , and blood glucose level show no statistical significant differences at the end of the study after 12 months.
- CBD diameter ranged between 6.88-9.6, 7.01-9.8, 7.00-9.9 and 7.11-9.8 with the mean of 7.98±0.95, 8.11±0.79, 8.09±0.811 and 8.13±0.833 at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months respectively, there were no statistical significant differences between the different period of follow up regarding CBD diameter.
