Abstract

There is currently a great deal of interest in the chemistry of pyrazol-5-one and related compounds due to their wide range of biological and pharmacological activities. A variety of compounds having a pyrazol-5-one moiety as a structural unit have been synthesized and studied with interest centered on their potential pharmaceutical activity. The literature survey reveals that the pyrazol-5-one moiety is an important pharmacophore and exhibits outstanding biological activities such as, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antitubercular, antioxidant and anticancer activities. from the view point of molecular design, the combination of two biologically active molecules or pharmacophores is a well-known approach for the build-up of drug-like molecules, which allows us to find more potent agents. The material presented in this thesis is separated into two main parts. PART 1: Acid Catalyzed Condensation of Antipyrine with Aryl Ketones, α,β-Unsaturated Ketones, Ketonic Mannich Bases and Heterocyclic Ketones, this part content some point: Reaction of Antipyrine with Aryl Ketones, Reaction of 4-aminoantipyrine with phloroglucinol, Reaction of antipyrine with α,β-unsaturated ketones, Reaction of 2-pyrazolin-5-ones and antipyrine with ketonic Mannich bases, Reaction of antipyrine with heterocyclic ketones, Reaction of antipyrine with isatin, Reaction of antipyrine with acetylpyrazolones, Reaction of indole with acetylpyrazolones, Reaction of antipyrine with 5-pyrazolones and bis-pyrazolones. PART 2: Synthesis of Formazans, 1,2,4-Triazines and Triazenes Incorporating Antipyrine Moiety, it content: Synthesis of Antipyrinyl Formazans, Synthesis of Antipyrinyl 1,2,4-Triazines, Synthesis of Antipyrinyl Triazenes.
