Abstract

Clindamycin is amember of lincosamide, which used in treatment of air saculitis, mycoplasmosis and colibacillosis in poultry. Spectinomycin is one of aminocyclitol antibiotic which related to aminoglycosides. It is effective in the treatment of E.coli infection, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis and mycoplasmosis in poultry. The present work was conducted to evaluate the antibacterial effect of clindamycin, spectinomycin or their combination in healthy and expermintally infected chicks with E.coli. The effect of therapeutic dose of clindamycin (0.25 gm/L of drinking water for 5 successive days), spectinomycin (1gm /L of drinking water for 5 successive days) and their combination (in drinking water for 5 successive days) on healthy and expermintally infected chicks with E.coli was studied. A- Antibacterial activity in vivo.
The comparison between the drugs depends.
1- Clinical symptoms.
2- Effect on mortality rate.
3- Effect on lesion scores.
4- Effect on live body weight and body weight gain.
5- Effect on feed consumption and feed conversion ratio (F.C.R).
6- Effect on some hematological parameters.
7- Effect on some biochemical parameters.
8- Effect on some immunological parameters.
It could be concluded from the present study that, administration of therapeutic dose of clindamycin, spectinomycin and their combination are of considerable value in the treatment of E.coli infection in chickens.
The results of this study indicated that the combination between clindamycin and spectinomycin is more effective in the treatment of E.coli infection in chickens than clindamycin or spectinomycin alone.
The present study revealed that combination between clindamycin and spectinomycin at their therapeutic doses produced the most favorable result regarding body weight, body weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion ratio.
