Abstract Indian River broilers were superior in live body weight, Body weight gain s, liveability, bursa weight and percentage, total Lymphoid organs’ weight; cell mediated immunity as well as immunization with SRBCs at 7_days post-primary and post-secondary injections. Cobb broiler strain was superior only in dressing percentages, edible cut-parts in addition to IgM antibody titres for anti-SRBCs at 14_days PSI. The lower H/L ratio, bursa weight and percentage, cell mediated immunity and high Total Immunoglobulin SRBCs agglutination response in Indian River strain may be the cause to lower mortality rates compared with the Cobb broiler strain. Mortality rates were approximately 3% and 12% in Indian River and Cobb respectively. Mortality percentages affected greatly economic returns making Indian River better investors |
