Abstract Post liver transplant patients present a vast array of metabolic changes which were associated with higher costs of care and increased risks of graft failure, infection, CVD, and death. In transplant patients, the incidence was related to the immunosuppressant regimen. Furthermore, variables that have also been considered to be risk factors in the general population for development of these disorders were also found to be risk factors for transplant patients. Osteoporosis and a high incidence of fragility fractures have emerged as a complication after liver transplantation. Bone loss after transplantation is related to adverse effects of immunosuppressive drugs GCs and CNIs on bone remodeling. Hence the main objectives of this study was to investigate incidence and risk factors of DM & AHT. Cirrhotic patients are often malnourished, presented with ascites, dyslipidemia and hypotension which make it difficult to diagnose Mets. Consequently, prevalence and risk factors of post-transplantation dyslipidemia, obesity and the overall MetS were the most accessible approach. In addition, most patients have some form of bone disease prior to transplantation. So, we studied prevalence and risk factors of metabolic bone diseases (osteopenia & osteoporosis) after LTx. This study was conducted on 100 adult patients who underwent LDLT in NLI, Menoufia University and survived longer than one year after liver transplantation. Patients have been followed up for at least one year after liver transplantation. Diagnostic workup and management have been recorded. Post-transplantation data included in addition to the clinical evaluation. |
