Abstract

Cement plays an important role in the construction industry of Egypt. Limestone is immensely used as the major raw material. The principal oxide of cement is CaO obtaining from calcium carbonate (calcite). The secondary raw material in cement manufacturing is the clay. Gebel Libni and Wadi El Mashashe in the north central Sinai are donated with extensive deposits of suitable grade material for the manufacture of Portland cement. The reserves of raw material for cement already explored are limited therefore, it is necessary to find out new reserve of the raw material for cement industry. Properties of the limestone and clay raw material in the study area are evaluated. On the other hand cement manufacture has an effect on consumed the raw material.Environmental problems arise from; pollution of the atmosphere by CO2, raw material by cement waste CKBp dust, drain water from the industry. Cement kiln bypass dust (CKBp) is a significant byproduct material of the cement industry. Achieved in the management and use of CKBp reduce its dependency on landfill disposal. Thus the majority of CKBp is recycled back into the cement kiln as raw feed.
