Abstract Reperfusion with Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is an established procedure for the treatment of coronary artery disease (Diller, et al., 2009), is performed to relieve symptoms, to prevent subsequent myocardial infarction, and to improve regional and global ventricular function (Horie, et al.,1998). PCI has a limited role in patients with chronic stable angina. The effect of PCI on regional left ventricular function was not widely studied. Aim of the work: To assess the effect of PCI on regional left ventricular systolic and diastolic functions using tissue Doppler (TDI), in patients with chronic stable angina with no visible regional wall motion abnormalities. Patients & Methods: This study was carried out in cardiology department in Zagazig Al-Ahrar Teaching hospital. The study included 25 patients with chronic stable angina, who were on ischemic standard anti-medications according to The Guidelines on the Management of Stable Angina Pectoris of the European Society of Cardiology (Fox et al., 2006), and there demographic and clinical data was as the following: The study group consisted of 25 patients with chronic stable angina underwent elective PCI, 13 (52%) were males and 12 (48%) were females, there ages ranged from 49 to 69 years with an average of 57.2 ± 6.49 years. |
