Abstract Cotton-containing fabrics are hydrophilic in nature, eco-friendly, soft and comfort. However, they certainly lack easy-care, dimensional stability, anti microorganisms, UV-shielding and self cleaning properties. On the other hand blending of cellulosic fibers with similar or dissimilar textile fibers, utilization of eco-friendly active finishing ingredients and emerging technologies to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks, to upgrade their performance and functional properties to enlarge their potential applications as well as to cope with the ever increasing textile consumer’s demands have attracted a great deal of research and development efforts. Therefore, the main goal of the present thesis was to develop multifunctional cotton-containing fabrics taking in consideration the product quality, consumer demands, and ecology concerns via: I. Loading of Chitosan – Nano Metal Oxide Hybrids onto Cotton / Polyester Fabrics to Impart Permanent and Effective Multifunctions II. Multifunctional Cellulose-Containing Fabrics Using Modified Finishing Formulations. |
