المستخلص

The Fatimid Cairo is regarded as a clear example of the archaeological site that requires creating sustainable cultural tourism through making schemes for its management. It has the advantage of a privileged location in the Egyptian capital, owing to its size that represents 1.4 million square kilometer and the 135 monuments it includes. It is also north side bounded by Bab Al Fetouh, south side bounded by Bab Zeweila, east side bounded by Salah Salem Road and west side bounded by Port Said street. The archaeological buildings in Fatimid Cairo are characterized by their unique diversity and distinction for the era they present as well as for the position they had in the past. It also includes a group of unregistered buildings dating back to the 19. Th century, a group of concrete structure buildings, schools, shops, coffee shops, workshops, open areas. Moreover, it has a commercial and industrial activity for various categories of populations that are characterized by being socially, and economically different. Hence, this unique mix of buildings, populations and activity create a unique advantage for Fatimid Cairo, which has a cumulative formula dating back to different ages resulting from political, economic and social shifts, since it was established by General Gawhar Al Siqilli in 969 AD. The main importance of the study is concerned with the increased interest of the country toward developing the historical city of Cairo for serving the tourism investment. So, choosing the study subject was in the context of the mentioned problem of the study, which is ”There are no comprehensive strategy for making tourism programs for visiting the archaeological buildings of Fatimid Cairo, and there are no plans for serving the purpose of the tourism development in the area”.Hence, making tourism programs for this area requires a precise understanding of its historical and architectural heritage. This is in the framework of the existence of previous experiences globally and regionally, which will help in identifying such experiences, criticizing their negatives and capitalizing on them. It is also important to link between these programs and conserving the monuments of Fatimid Cairo through developing a vision and comprehensive objectives to achieve the desired goal.
