Abstract

The thesis composed of three major parts:
Part one:
It includes the introduction of this thesis. Introduction includes the literature survey about the synthesis of both poly (2-aminothiophenol), poly (2 -Methylaniline) and (aminothiophenol-co-2-methylaniline) copolymer. The assembling of all prepared polymer materials on Ag nanoparticles and their application as anti-bacterial against SRB
Part two:
This part includes the experimental section comprises the chemicals, experimental techniques, equations and tools of analysis. Also, the descriptions of the used instruments are given.
Part three:
This part includes the results and discussions which composed of three chapters.
Chapter one:
It includes preparation and the kinetic studies of polymerization of poly (2-aminothiophenol). The optimum conditions of the preparation of (2- aminothiophenol) based on polymer yield as follows (reaction time 90 min, 0.2000 mole L-1 HCl, 0.2800 mole L-1ATP and 0.4184 mole L-1APS at 278K). The polymerization reaction rate law is:
Ri =k2 [HCl] 0.747[APS] 0.694[2ATH] 0.676
The apparent activation energy Ea was found to be 25.5021 KJ/ mol. Also, ΔH* and ΔS* are calculated to be found 23.2925 KJ /mol and -97.0178 J /mol K respectively
Chapter two:
Which includes the Synthesis of poly (2-Methyl Aniline) and its copolymer with poly (2-aminothiophenol) and determination of monomer reactivity ratios of (P2ATH-CO-2MeANI) which found to be r1 = 0.98, r2 = 0.12
Chapter Three:
This chapter includes the characterization of all prepared polymeric samples [poly (2-aminothiophenol), poly (2-Methyl aniline) and (P2ATH-CO-2MeANI)] and their Assembling on AgNPs. Assembling of these polymeric samples with AgNps was characterized by comparison of UV, XRD and TEM of both polymer samples and Its assembling with AgNPs. The following figures confirm the assembling process. P2ATH, P2MeANI and their copolymer were characterized by IR, 1HNMR, EM and TGA. The obtained data confirm the suggested structures of these polymeric samples. (c.f the following figures ). The data of the antibacterial activity of the prepared polymers and their nano structure with AgNPs included in this capter.
