Abstract

The current retrospective study assessed treatment-naïve patients with compensated CHC (selected from one day surgery, Samalout) with participation of minia university hospital. In current study we included 80 patients with chronic hepatitis C with different fibrosis grades (F), The patient had received simeprevir + sofosbuvir. The final outcome of antiviral therapy was assessed. Patient group of this study which included sixty five (65) CHC patient was divided according to fibroscan results into 2 groups group I that included patients with mild fibrosis (F1,2) and group II included patients with severe fibrosis (F3,4). Also the study included 20 unrelated adult subjects with no previous history of liver disease and negative for HBV and HCV infection to serve as a control groupIII.
Patients were subjected to clinical, and laboratory evaluation which included: Estimation of anti-HCV, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and antibodies against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).,Complete blood count (CBC), Liver function tests (LFTs), Prothrombin time (PT) and concentrations (PC) ,Serum creatinine , Fasting blood glucose (FBG),Pregnancy test for female in childbearing period ,Quantitative PCR for HCV- RNA,Fasting serum insulin, Fasting lipid profile,Anti-bilhazial antibodies, Antinuclear antibody , Assessment of insulin resistance (IR) by calculation of homeostasis model for assessment of IR (HOMA –IR), Assessment of STAT-5 activation, TGFβ1, α-Smooth muscle actin in serum &Detection of liver fibrosis byAbdominal ultrasonography,Fib 4& Fibroscan.
