Abstract

he current study was conducted in four PHC centers in NEW CAIRO district and included 170 physicians, to determine the level of job satisfaction of PHC physicians and to assess the potential factors affecting their job satisfaction, also, to measure the work related affective wellbeing among them and to correlate between the work related affective wellbeing and job satisfaction among a sample of primary health care physicians.
Two interview questionnaires (translated into Arabic) were used; Job satisfaction survey (JSS) to assess the level of job satisfaction of PHC physicians and a Job-related affective well-being scale (JAWS) to measure the work related affective wellbeing.
Also, questions asking about socio-demographic characteristics as age, sex, marital status, income, level of qualification and residence to assess the potential factors affecting their job satisfaction and work related affective wellbeing.
Results of the current study revealed that the highest number of the study sample was aging 25 to 30 years (49.4%), most of them were females (91.8%) and married (84.7%). Most of the study sample had Bachelor (58.8%). from the study

sample (39.4%) had 5-10 years of experience and most of them (48.2%) have family income (2000 – 4000 LE).
Total job satisfaction score ranged from 62 to 145, with mean ± SD was 108.9 ± 16.6. Only 1.2% of physicians were satisfied about their job. The highest satisfaction rate was for physician satisfaction for relation with coworkers (61.2%) and the lowest satisfaction (0.6%) was for pay.
By univariate analysis, there was no significant association between demographic characteristics and total job satisfaction score. However, by multivariate analysis, age and work related affective wellbeing score were significant independent variables affecting total satisfaction score.
The work related affective wellbeing score ranged from 34 to 89 with mean ± SD was 59.3 ± 7.5.
By univariate and multivariate analysis, age and years after graduation were significant predictors for work related affective wellbeing score.
There was a significant positive correlation between work-related affective wellbeing and pay, supervision, nature of work, communication subscales and total job satisfaction score
