Abstract One hundred fifty raw milk samples were collected directly from dairy cows, dairy ewes and dairy goats (50 each) from different areas along Assiut Governorate, Egypt, which represented as Manfalout, Abnoub, Masraa, Sahil Seleem and El-Badari. The preference in animal choosing was those having the reproductive problems or mastitis in addition to the presence of ticks which are responsible for transmission of the infection among animals. All the milk samples were examined by PCR for detection of C. burnetii for PCR products of 687 base pairs (IS1111 gene) which considered are indicative for identification of C. burnetii. The obtained results showed that 9 (18%), 4 (8%) and 3 (6%) out of the examined raw milk samples were positive for C. burnetii in cattle, sheep and goat, respectively. These results proved that there was an incidence of C. burnetii in raw milk produced in some localities of Assiut Governorate, Egypt. |
