Abstract Spectrophotometric methods of analysis are an excellent tool, which are very widely used for the determination of wide variety of materials. This technique is the most commonly used method for synthetic food colorants. Achievements of high accuracy and precision coupled with the cost effectiveness are the most important advantage of visual spectrophotometry. The challenge in this field of research is the development of newer methods, which are comparatively stable. The present investigation aims to develop a set of two new spectrophotometric methods for the determination of some synthetic food colorants at trace levels. As the need for selective and simple analytical techniques is ever increasing, it is worthwhile to develop some novel reagents for this purpose. The reagents developed presently are complexing agent Cu (II) and alkaline KMnO4 oxidizing agent. |
