Abstract The present study was planned to evaluate some anticoccidial drugs used in Egyptian market for treatment of coccidiosis. The aim of this comparative study was to ensure the presence of the labeled amount of the active principle in each generic drug, therefore we can make evaluation and judgment of them. Four active principles were chosen: amprolium, diclazuril & sulfonamides (sulfadimidine and sulfaquinoxaline). Several companies for each generic drug were chosen according to thier availability in market. A comparative study between generic drugs contents of active principle was performed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results reflected that 67% of the studied generic drug contained less active principles than those recorded on the labels . Out of the 67%,30% were fully adulterated (0% active principle). The level percentage of adulteration ranged from 2.5% to 100%. Drug adulteration is a serious issue because it can lead to economical loss and can also evoke organism resistance. |
