Abstract

The wellbore deviated sections keep getting deeper and longer. This is
because of most of oil and gas fields became fully developed due to
development of the drilling technology. This will lead to reducing the
number of drilling wells in the new projects.
To achieve this goal friction in the wellbore represented in Torque and/or
Drag may cause some inabilities including the tubular yield strength
specifications and buckling tendencies. from the previous, oil and gas industry started to concentrate on torque and
drag models to be able to drill complex. The purpose of this thesis is to make an assessment on the models’ abilities
and inabilities. Also to find out how much the model can help for detecting
the downhole problems. The author had used an Aadnoy’s based excel sheet
done by TL Longbow Prime company. To study the model, different field
cases have been applied with the friction model. Although the model has some inabilities discussed at the end of the thesis,
the model has been shown a good indication of the downhole situation as in
well Bijil-4.
In the future, the model should be improved by including the tortuosity and
micro tortuosity, hydraulic, Sag / Co-Sag and friction losses in the hoisting
system effects. Also the model should be improved to more powerful
software to allow adding these effects.
