Abstract

The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of sedatives, as a method to improve over night continuous positive airway pressure titration, short-term therapy compliance, and outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea. This work was carried out on 40 patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (AHI<20 event/h), admitted in Chest Department, Tanta University Hospital during the period from January 2017 to August 2017. They were classified into: group I: included 20 patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (AHI<20 event/h), receiving sedative hypnotic(3 mg of eszopiclone) within 60 min before their CPAP auto titration polysomnography. group П: included 20 patients with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (AHI<20 event/h), receiving placebo before their CPAP auto titration polysomnography.
