Abstract Metalaxyl is a fungicide with high activity against fungal pathogens of the order peronosporales, which cause late blight mildews, damping –off and root, stem and fruit rots of many plants. The compound is taken up by the roots, leaves, green` stems and shoots, transported acropetally within the plant The available laboratory and filed studies indicate that metalaxyl is stable to hydrolysis under normal environmental pH values and is also photolytically stable in water and soil when exposed to sunlight. Its tolerance to a wide range of pH, light and temperature leads to its continued use in agriculture. On account of these properties and its broad spectrum activity, metalaxyl has been registered for use on a wide range of crops in both temperate and tropical regions. However, the problems resulting from pesticides application such as metalaxyl, come from their high residual level in agriculture crops especially vegetables cultivated under greenhouse conditions and other components of environment. Since human- beings are subjected to consume fruits and vegetables contaminated with metalaxyl or inhaling its smokes during spraying of the drug, so the present study was. |
