Abstract

Antioxidants are chemical compounds that stop oxidation in several ways, including removing the free radicals or interacting with them. Some plants in nature contain antioxidants and are considered useful for living organisms because they play an important role in stopping harmful oxidation.
This study was conducted to study the effect of rosemary or licorice on hematological, biochemical parameters, humeral immunity and oxidative stress markers in normal and lead-induced oxidative stress rats.
This study was conducted on 120 male albino rats ranging in weight from 200 to 250 g with average 2 weeks old. These rats were divided into six groups. Each group contains 20 rats and was studied as follows:
• Lead acetate was used in groups 4 to 6 as a toxic substance that stimulates and helps oxidation.
• Lead acetate wasn’t given to the first, second and third groups.
group 1: Left without any treatment as control group.
group 2: Aqueous extract of rosemary was added to drinking water by 100 mg / kg body weight daily for 6 weeks.
group 3: Aqueous extract of licorice was added to drinking water by 150 mg / kg body weight daily for 6 weeks.
group 4: 0.2% Lead acetate was added to drinking water daily for 6 weeks.
