Abstract

One hundred and eight dried milk powder random samples include milk powder (milk powder, infant foods sample and flavoured dried ice cream mix) 60, 22, 26 of each, respectively were collected from groceries, pharmacies and supermarkets from different localities in Alexandria city for detection of some heavy metal residues including (Pb, Cd, Al and Sn) and Mycotoxins including (AFM1, AFM2 and Ochratoxin A); The samples were transferred to the laboratory to be examined. The obtained results could be summarized as following:- 7.1 Lead residues: Lead residues were detected in 15 and 35 % of examined canned, and un-canned milk powder with mean values of 0.25 ± 0.06, 0.1 ± 0.04 ppm, respectively. Also, 27.27 and 36.36% of examined milk based formula and baby food were positive for Lead with mean values of 0.13 ± 0.02 7.and 0.12 ± 0.04 ppm, respectively. While, 75, 66.66, and 44.44% of examined dried ice cream mix flavoured by strawberry, chocolate and vanilla were positive for Lead with mean values of0.21 ± 0.08, 0.11 ± 0.08 and 0.18 ± 0.07 ppm, respectively. 7.2 Cadmium: Cadmium residues were detected in 12.50 and 30 % of examined canned, and un-canned milk powder with mean values of 0.08 ± 0.02 and 0.11 ± 0.02 ppm, respectively. Also 45.45 and 27.27% of examined milk based formula and baby food were positive with mean values of0.059 ± 0.007 And 0.074 ± 0.03 ppm, respectively. While 50, 44.44 and 44.44% of examined flavoured dried ice cream mix strawberry, chocolate and vanilla) were positive with mean values of0.04 ± 0.01, 0.18 ± 0.02 and 0.09 ± 0.02 ppm, respectively. 7.3 Aluminium: Aluminium was detected in 7.50 and 25 % of examined canned and un-canned milk powder were positive with mean values of 0.45 ± 0.12 and 0.37 ± 0.15 ppm, respectively. 36.36 and 27.27% of examined milk based formula and baby food were positive with mean values of 0.11 ± 0.01 and 0.179 ± 0.09 ppm respectively. While, 25, 22.22 and 33.33% of examined flavoured dried ice cream mix strawberry, chocolate and vanilla were positive with mean values of 0.18 ± 0.13, 0.29 ± 0.02 and 0.38 ± 0.26 ppm, respectively. 7.4 Tin: Tin was detected in.5 and 40 % of examined canned and un-canned milk powder were positive with mean values of 26.8 ± 5.13 and 49.9 ± 5.50 ppm, respectively. Also 54.5 and 27.27% of examined milk based formula and baby food were positive with mean values of 29.15 ± 4.22 and 40.62 ± 11.38 ppm respectively. While, 37.50, 33.33, 44.44% of examined flavoured dried ice cream mix strawberry, chocolate and vanilla were positive for Tin with a mean values of89.67 ± 20.69, 52.83 ± 19.51 and 48.06 ± 5.55 ppm, respectively. 7.5 The Mycotoxins pollution: Aflatoxins M1 was detected in 5, 15, 12.50, 11.11 and 22.22 % in examined milk powder canned , un-canned and flavoured dried ice cream mix strawberry, chocolate and vanilla samples were positive for with mean values of 0.033 ± 0.02 , 0.507 ± 0.21 , 1.079 , 0.447 and 0.226 ± 0.16 ppb respectively. Aflatoxins M2 was detected in 2.50, 12.50 and 11.11 % in examined canned milk powder and flavoured dried ice cream mix strawberry and chocolate samples were positive with mean values of 0.013, 0.426 and 0.186 (ppb), respectively. Ochratoxin A “OTA” was detected in 11.11 % in the examined flavoured dried ice cream mix chocolate samples were positive with a mean values of 0.532 (ppb).
