Abstract
in our study we aimed to shed light on the effects of therapy with rHuEPO in correction of anemia in haemodialysis patients on left ventricular mass and function, this study was conducted on 40 haemodialysis patients with hemoglobin less than 10 g/dl as case group and 10 age and sex matched haemodialysis patients with hemoglobin more than 11 g/dl who never received erythropoietin As a control group.All subjects were selected with the following Inclusion criteria:-
Patients on regular hemodialysis.
Age ranged from 18 : 70 years old
patients with hemoglobin<10gm/ dl
and with the following exclusion criteria:-
Patients with uncontrolled hypertention BP>140/90
Patients with history of coronary, valvular heart disease.
Patients with severe hyperparathyroidism
Patients not candidate for erythropoietin treatment.All subjects (case and control) of this study were submitted to the Full medical history with stress on Manifestations of chronic kidney disease, Manifestations of heart failure, Manifestations of anemia and Cause of renal failure either DM or HTN or any other cause and thorough medical examination stressing on Signs of chronic kidney disease, Signs of heart failure and Signs of anemia.
