Abstract
Physicians should be aware of the immediate and delayed complications related to central venous catheter placement. Recognizing and subsequent management of complications reduces morbidity and mortality and improves patient outcomes.
In order to reduce CVC complications, the physicians placing the CVC is required to work under sterile conditions, be experienced, and use the appropriate technique for each unique patient.
The quality of material used is also important
US has been confirmed to be a low cost effective measure in decreasing complication rate and increasing efficiency of CVC placement. So we believe that the use of US should be more widespread.
