Abstract

This study was carried out during 2014 and 2015 seasons on forty five –years old Early sweet grapevines onto Polson grapevine rootstock and grown in a private vineyard located at El-Kayse village, Matay district, Minia Governorate where the texture of the soil is clay, well drained and with water table depth not less than two meters. Vines are spaced at 2.5 m. (between rows) (560 vines per /fed.). The selected vines (45 vines) were chosen as uniform in vigour as possible. Pruning was done on the first week of Jan. during both seasons and the vine load for the selected vines was adjusted to 60 eyes/vine and fruiting spur length was variable according to the present treatments. Gable supporting system was followed a surface irrigation system was formed.
The goal of this study was examining the effect of fruiting spurs length with or without the application of seaweed extract behviour of buds on vegetative growth characteristics, vine nutritional status, yield and berry quality of Early sweet grown under Minia region conditions. selecting the vest spur length and concentration of seaweed extract that are responsible for obtaining an economical yield is considered another target.
Under the experimental and resembling conditions, it is suggested to prune Early sweet grapevines by leaving thirty fruiting spur x two eyes per spur besides spraying of seaweed extract at 0.2% three times at growth start, just after berry setting and at one month later for maximizing the yield quantitively. However, the best results with regard to quality of the berries were recorded on the vines that pruned to leave is fruiting spurs x four eyes/spur besides carrying out three sprays of seaweed extract at 0.2%.
