Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted at the Research and Production Station, National Research Centre, El-Nubaria Province, El-Behira Governorate, Egypt, during the two successive winter seasons of 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 growing seasons.
The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of chicken manure and foliar application of micronutrients on growth, yield and yield attributes as well as chemical composition of barly plant grown in sandy soil. The experiment design was split plot with three replications, it included 36 treatments, which were the combinations of three chicken manure doses and twelve micronutrients treatments. The experimental treatment can described as follows:
Main plots (chicken manures):
1- Without chicken manures.
2- 5 ton/fed chicken manures.
3- 10 ton/fed chicken manures.
Chicken manure was mixed with the soil two weeks before sowing, raked it lightly at a depth of 10-15 cm.
Sub-plots (foliar application of micronutrient):
1- Control2- 2600 ppm Zinc /fed.
3- 3000 ppm Boron /fed.
4- 2600 ppm Manganese /fed.
5- 3000 ppm Iron /fed.
6- 2600 ppm Zinc /fed +3000 ppm Boron/fed.7- 2600 ppm Zinc /fed +2600 ppm Manganese/fed .
8- 2600 ppm Zinc /fed +3000 ppm Iron/fed.9- 3000 ppm Boron/fed +2600 ppm Manganese/fed .10- 3000 ppm Boron/fed +3000 ppm Iron/fed.
11- 2600 ppm Manganese/fed +3000 ppm Iron/fed .12- 2600 ppm Zinc /fed + 2600 ppm Manganese/fed +3000 ppm Boron/fed + 3000 ppm Iron/fed.All the previous doses of micronutrients were dissolved in 400 liter water.Foliar application with the specified treatment was applied two times (45 and 60 days after sowing). Two vegetative samples were taken at 75 and 105 days from sowing to determine the following growth attributes and growth analysis characters.
A.Growth attributes characters:
1.Plant height (cm).
2.Number of blades / m2.
3.Number of tillers/plant
4.Number of spikes/m2.
5.Dry weight of spikes/m2.
6.Total dry weight (g / plant).
7.Leaf area index (LAI).
8.Specific leaf weight (SLW) (mg/cm2).
