Abstract

It is clear from the research presented in this report that disabled people have wide ranging ideas about the positive changes that would make the most difference to their living standards across various areas of their lives. At the same time, there appear to be a few key themes and common threads that underpin these ideas and suggestions: (Copes take, May 2014) • Access has economic benefits because people with disabilities and older adults are significant part of the population and they constitute a large potential market for the arts and the humanities. • Access is a social issue. People with disabilities are included in the definition of “diversity.” • Access is a civil right. Assuring equal opportunity for everyone is a fundamental starting point for all accessibility efforts. • Accessibility is work in progress, a routine review and evaluation of services, accommodations and physical access is a must. Considering rapid changes in technology and changes in the disability community, what has been acceptable and worked fine yesterday may not be the best an organization can do today. • Every one wants an equal opportunity and equal treatment; second-class citizenship is no longer acceptable. Changes in attitude mean that cultural organizations must be ready to make changes in accessibility, policies and procedures to meet the current expectations of the community. • The main goal is to obtain a barrier free environment; an environment that supports disabled individuals to function, participate, and get through everyday life without assistance. • The main goal of this thesis is create guidelines for non-ambulant (chair bound), semiambulant (lower limb impairments), visual, and hearing disabled persons. This construction and maintenance standard should be applied in all variety of buildings and services used by the public for making easy to get to and functional for physically disabled persons. • Although the main concern of the thesis is requirements of disabled people, But the facilities will make the buildings suitable for elderly and for people suffering from any type of physical ailments. A safer, easier atmosphere for the physically disabled benefits everyone. • The most important purpose is to fuse disabled and elderly fully into the society. The presumption that all elderly are handicapped, or that all disabled are elderly, is an over simplification of the requests of both groups and is a disservice to both. May be applied on residential buildings other than domestic, commercial, industrial, health care, educational establishments, community and religious Buildings agricultural and transport facilities. • The guide lines have also indicated the minimum access provisions necessary in various types of buildings. Architects are the ultimately users of this standards to ensure the specific environment created by them are suitable for all categories of people. The standards also referenced that barrier free design can be obtained without economic burden to the client, builder, designer, and the architect; will assist. These standards shall be an important document to exchange comments between disabled consumers, architects and others involved in an environment between disabled consumers, architects. This may also produce research activities to give required knowledge base. •Monotony and the poor conditions of a building are without doubt a contributory factor to low morale and sense of well-being for not only disabled but also visitors and staff.
