Abstract The current study is an attempt to investigate the effect of using web-based blogs as a tool to develop some EFL writing skills among preparatory stage pupils. The researcher designed a webbased blog for second year prep school pupils by using the internet.A checklist of EFL writing skills and sub skills, and a pre-posttest of EFL writing skills were prepared. The researcher used the quasiexperimental design. The participants included (64) pupils who were divided into two groups: The experimental and the control one. The experimental group received training to develop EFL writing skills through using the web-based blogs. The control group received training through regular instruction. A pre-posttest was given to the two groups before and after the treatment. The findings revealed that the pupils perceived the web-based blog as an interesting and helpful learning tool, helped to develop EFL writing skills and it was effective as a tool for language learning. It is recommended that web-based blogs at the preparatory stages should be used to develop EFL writing skills. |
