Abstract The first need for post-operative analgesia was recorded in both groups and it was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups in the first need for analgesic with group B patients requiring analgesics more early than group A patients, Also the total amount of morphine and ketoprofen used were higher in group B than group A. Similarly this could be attributed to the longer duration of femoral nerve block in candidates of group A. Another statistically significant difference was regarding doctor satisfaction with more doctor satisfaction in group A than group B. Lastly there was no significant difference between the two groups as regards the total length of hospital stay. The only disadvantage noted in femoral nerve block group was the additional cost for insulated needles and local anesthetic mixture. |
